WASHINGTON, DC – The need for a feminist uprising has taken its place at the forefront of the movement against the neo-fascist Trump regime. Millions gathered at the Women’s March on Washington echoing disdain for the horrors that have materialized with the stroke of a pen. Yes, Donald Trump had opened the doors to a flood of policies that have further destabilized our communities, but we will continue to light the way through the darkness!

Rooted in historical resistance, a dynamic flow of desire to fight has spread through the nation ringing in the ears of warrior women. The District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) have heard the cries of resistance and have organically called for the creation of AF3IRM DMV led by Co-Coordinators Jenn Lynn and Lovely Umayam. As residents of this community, we have witnessed and experienced the socio-economic and political issues that simultaneously impact the women of color on these grounds walked on by revolutionary giants and orange bigots alike.

The structural violence has deprived communities of respect and dignity via gentrification in the District, police brutality in Maryland, and the lack of reproductive justice all throughout the DMV just to name a few. Rather than succumb to the man-made atrocities aimed at the very existence of women and their entire communities, we will persist.

AF3IRM DMV shall commence with a warm welcoming with a safe space for women of color to engage on the topic of self-care and collective care on this long journey to freedom. This Women’s Dialogue on Love in the Era of Trump will begin at 7pm Friday, February 17, 2017 located at Pansaari in the District. Before the vision to liberation is ordained, the discussion on what love looks like in this new era shall be redefined under the corporatist context. What does it mean for our survival to be tied to our resistance? In this era of family separation and mass genocide, what does justice have to do with love? These questions are at the very core of why we women fight.

This is a call for women in the DMV to fight against this neo-fascist regime destroying our communities! Theory build with us towards the collective vision of genuine liberation for all humanity!

Resist Trump!
Resist bigotry!
Resist patriarchy!

Love” by Assata Shakur
Love is contraband in Hell,
cause love is an acid that eats away bars.
But you, me, and tomorrow
hold hands and make vows
that struggle will multiply.
The hacksaw has two blades.
The shotgun has two barrels.
We are pregnant with freedom.
We are a conspiracy.
