Q: What is AF3IRM?

A: AF3IRM is a national organization of women engaged in transnational feminist, anti-imperialist activism.  AF3IRM’s diverse, multi-ethnic membership is committed to militant movement-building from the United States and affects change through grassroots organizing, trans-ethnic alliance building, education, advocacy and direct action. AF3IRM has deep roots with a 25-year herstory that began in 1989 as GABRIELA Network.

Q: What is GABNet?

A: We were first formed as GABNet in 1989 as a US-Philippine solidarity mass organization. We worked on campaigns that impacted women in the Philippines. As time progressed, we realized that transnational women in the U.S. needed a space to address issues impacting us here such as trafficking, police brutality, attacks on im/migrant women and children, and more. As a result, in 2009, we evolved into AF3IRM with a new ideology and practice – transnational feminism.
